What is the best thing about working in-house?
Stronger relationships are created when you work with and see your clients every day – all day – in the same building. They get exposure to your work across many different departments as well. It’s also easier to understand exactly where the challenges lie and potential roadblocks can be anticipated ahead of time. I’ve found that the strong relationships I’ve created have helped me tremendously when I propose a strategy, initiative or execution that may be outside the corporate comfort zone. People are more inclined to take risks with you.

What types of projects does your department do?
Email, Web, print, PR, event/promo materials – everything! We support 14 different departments within the company and 2 sister companies.

What keeps you motivated and inspired in your job?
The people within my Department and the differing perspectives, backgrounds and ideas that we all possess. They meld together and it results in great strategy and great creative that produces results. Laughing a lot helps too.

What do you consider the biggest success of your in-house career?
Gaining the trust of Senior Management and making them advocates and believers of the creative process. So much so that we took the corporate advertising over from an outside agency. Winning a G/D USA In-house award last year didn’t hurt either.
