What is the best thing about working in-house?
From an employment perspective, Publix is a great company to work for. It's an honest company that genuinely cares about its customers and its employees. From a creative perspective, working in-house enables us to become very intimate with the brand. And even though all the work is for Publix, because we have multiple brands the work is often very diverse.

What types of projects does your department do?
Corporate identity, branding, print collateral, point of purchase, package design, environmental design.

What keeps you motivated and inspired in your job?
I'm mostly inspired by the people on my team. I admire their dedication and determination to do great creative work... it motivates me to provide them with an environment that allows for an effective creative process. I also desire for them to have the same level of opportunity that I've experienced with this company.

In addition, I have a great boss who consistently inspires me.

What do you consider the biggest success of your in-house career?
The biggest success would have to be building a creative team of exceptionally talented associates who've had such a positive impact on our brand.

What are you currently reading, watching and listening to?
I'm reading "Zing! Five steps and 101 Tips for Creativity on Command" by Sam Harrison; "The Brand Gap" by Marty Neumeier; and the Holy Bible.

I'm watching ESPN, NBA Playoffs, NHL Playoffs, Overhaulin', Pinks (pretty much anything sports or cars).

I like all kinds of music. Right now I'm listening to Blue Merle. Other recent listening includes Talking Heads, Switchfoot, Elvis Costello, Madeleine Peyroux, Third Day, Death Cab for Cutie, Pretenders, Tristan Prettyman, Aqualung and...
